Evri and Deutsche Post DHL Group have agreed to merge Evri’s UK parcel business with DHL’s domestic e-commerce operations, forming a single entity that will process more than one billion parcels and an equal number of letters each year. While Evri specializes in high-volume, lower-value shipments delivered by self-employed couriers in their own vehicles, DHL brings expertise in faster, secure transport of higher-value items via its own fleet and contracted drivers.
Under the arrangement, DHL’s e-commerce division will be rebranded as “Evri Premium – a network of DHL eCommerce,” and Evri will gain its first letter-delivery capability, leveraging DHL’s existing business mail volumes. The combined service is designed to offer customers a broader suite of options from cost-sensitive parcel delivery to premium, trackable shipments while enhancing international connections through DHL’s global network.
The merged group will also benefit from access to over 15,000 out-of-home delivery points, including retail locations and parcel lockers, strengthening its last-mile reach. With annual parcel volumes approaching Royal Mail’s 1.3 billion, the enlarged Evri-DHL entity will become a formidable competitor in the UK logistics market.
Evri CEO Martijn de Lange noted that the business has grown tenfold over the past decade and said the merger “will further broaden our European and global e-commerce footprint.” As part of the deal, DHL will take a minority stake in the combined UK operation, with financial details kept confidential.
DHL’s other UK services such as its international express arm are excluded from the transaction. Both companies expect the CMA to review and approve the merger, after which they will integrate systems, networks and branding across the new delivery group.
By uniting Evri’s volume-driven model with DHL’s premium logistics and mail expertise, the partnership aims to deliver more flexible, cost-competitive solutions to UK businesses and consumers.
